Child Pickup — Privacy Policy

Child Pickup helps schools manage carline dismissal. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. The app is currently intended for families and staff of San Antonio Christian School (SACS).

• We collect a parent-provided child profile (name and optional grade) and an anonymous user ID.
   
• We use your device’s location on-device to confirm you’re inside the pickup zone. We do not store precise GPS coordinates.
   
• When you tap “I’m here”, we store a queue entry (child name, anonymous parent ID, timestamp) until a teacher clears it.
   
• No third-party ads or tracking; data is used only to operate the app.
   
• Data is hosted with Google Firebase (Auth & Firestore) and protected with TLS in transit and encryption at rest.
   

You provide

• Child profile: name and optional grade.
   

Automatically processed

• Anonymous identifier: created by Firebase Authentication to operate your session.
   
• Location status: we evaluate your location locally to determine whether you are inside the pickup zone; we do not store latitude/longitude.
   
• Queue entry data: when you check in, we create a record in the school’s queue (child name, anonymous parent ID, timestamp).
   

• Operate the service (create/show the pickup queue).
   
• Prevent misuse (avoid duplicates; auto-remove if you leave the zone).
   
• Maintain security and reliability (basic service logs).
   

• No sale of data.
   
• No advertising SDKs.
   
• Service providers: We use Google Firebase (Auth & Firestore) to host and process data on our behalf. Data may be processed in the U.S. or other regions where Firebase operates.
   
• Disclosure if required by law or to protect rights and users.
   

• Queue entries: kept until cleared by a teacher, after which the active record is removed. System logs may persist for a reasonable period for security/troubleshooting.
   
• Child profile: remains until you edit or delete it.
   

We use industry-standard protections, including TLS in transit and encryption at rest provided by Firebase. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

This app is intended for adults (parents/guardians and staff). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

• Edit your child profile at any time in the app.
   
• You may decline location permission; without it, the app cannot verify that you’re in the pickup zone.
   
• Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data—contact us to make a request.
   

Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to such transfers.

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the updated policy with a new effective date.
